Theater Design and Backstage Workshop – Ages 12-19 (Collège/Lycée) This workshop will give students a full backstage experience from learning the basics about designing theater scenery and lighting as well as learning about the equipment used for lighting, sound, and video today. Classes will include both the principles of design as well as practical experience in operating lighting and sound boards and other theater equipment. Workshop participants will have practical experience providing technical support for the other workshops and working on the annual October musical production. Students will have the opportuning to have real production experience by working on YATS musicals including the Musical Theater Workshop production in May, the Alumni production in August, and the October Musical in the Grand Salle at Le Point…

Theater Workshop: Advanced Level 4 – Ages 15-18 (2nde/première/terminale) This workshop is designed for actors who want an intensive acting experience with in-depth character study. The techniques of Sanford Meisner are used to help actors find the truth of their characters. Further exploration of structured improvisation. Final presentation varies depending on participants. Theater Workshop: Entry Acting Level 1 – Ages 11-13 (6ème/5ème) This workshop provides participants with the basics of theater and acting as well as a glimpse at singing and dancing. It helps young actors discover their own creativity, build self-confidence and reinforce the importance of working with others. Work begins on scripts and character development as well as vocal training. This workshop will end the year with a short musical play for parents and friends. Instruction is in English. INTRODUCTION TO THEATER AND ACTING – Ages 9-11 (CM1/CM2) This workshop introduces children to the basics of theater, acting and singing in a supportive and fun environment. The classes will include acting, singing, and dancing as part of musical theater performance skills. An end of the year showcase will be performed in front of parents and friends. Children must be 9 years-old on 1 September and must be attending school classes in English to a level that allows them to be able to read, improvise, make up sentences and react to other children in English.
