  • The winning poster design

I’m Henry Neff, I’m a multimedia artist and I had the great pleasure of designing the poster for this year’s performance, The Music Man! YATS has been a huge part of my life since I was twelve when I joined the cast of Annie Jr., the very first musical YATS ever put on. From the very beginning I loved the culture of passionate individuals working together to put on a great show in a fun and creative environment. Since then, I have performed in 10 shows and volunteered backstage in 2 more, and I’m thrilled that I’m able to keep participating in ways such as designing the poster for this upcoming show. I particularly enjoyed the challenge of creating a poster design for this year’s show; The…

  • It’s been a super-busy couple of weeks

First came our pre-audition workshops, where 70 local young performers joined us to practice singing and acting as well as learn the audition dance routine and harmonies for The Music Man. A few days later, 18 kids took part in our audition masterclass, working on their songs and performance skills before dancing their socks off once again. Then came audition weekend itself, with 90 young performers singing, acting and dancing in front of our jury, all hoping to win a place in the cast of this Autumn’s show. This week, some were invited back for call-backs to audition for specific parts, and we’re now almost ready to announce who’s playing who in the show (but not just yet). Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working…

  • Working really worked!

Our Young Actors had an extraordinary weekend on stage with three sold-out performances of Working, a show that gave each of our talented performers a chance to step into the spotlight to show us what they could do. We laughed, we cried, and we cheered the flawless acting, singing, and dancing. You could tell everyone had been putting their heart and soul into rehearsing since the workshop began, back in December. The hard graft was worth it in the end. The applause, a just reward! A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our young performers, as well as the stupendous people behind the scenes. Next up: our pre-audition workshops (this weekend) to help prepare you for your audition for The Music…

  • U.S. Consulate Anniversary Celebration

On April 30, YATS’ talented young performers took to the stage as part of the celebrations marking the 160th anniversary of the U.S. Consulate in Strasbourg, in the presence of long time supporter of YATS Consul General Yvonne Gonzales, as well as other local dignitaries. Performing “Oom-Pah-Pah” from Oliver!, our actors delivered a lively, confident, and polished performance that held its own among an impressive lineup. The evening featured a range of high-caliber acts, including break-dancers, the U.S. Army Rock Band (stationed in Germany), as well as dynamic high school drummers and cheerleaders from Stuttgart. Despite such distinguished company, our young cast stood out with their trademark energy, precision, and unmistakable stage presence. It was, quite simply, as good as ever, and a proud reminder…

  • Design a Poster for The Music Man

We are excited to launch our legendary poster design competition once more, from right here in River City (aka Strasbourg), for this year’s Fall production of The Music Man. We want you to create an original poster design that captures the spirit of the show to lead all our promotional materials. Any style or technique is welcome, as long as it is entirely your own original work. The competition is open to absolutely anyone, anywhere, of any age, nationality, or species. You don’t need to be a YATS member, a professional designer, nor a traveling musical instrument salesman to qualify. As always, the winning design will be selected anonymously by the YATS team, and the winner will not only see their design become the official…
