Come join the fun! Tickets for the fall performances of Shrek the Musical! will be available starting from Monday, 5 August for YATS Members and Monday, 12 August for general public. There will be five performances, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 October 2024, at Le Point d’Eau in Ostwald.

Shrek the Musical is based on the DreamWorks film and uses heart and irreverent humor to show the importance of looking past outward appearances to find what truly matters. Filled with great songs and a genuinely funny script, this show is a crowd-pleaser for audiences of all ages!

Thanks to the generosity of YATS friends, families and volunteers, we raised €14,223 from our firstever Fundraiser Garden Party to help purchase some much-needed sound equipment. We really appreciated comedienne and actress Antonia de Rendinger calling out the prize winners and hosting the auction, and to Boucherie La Charcut’Hier for the delicious barbeque served to 150 of us YATS enthusiasts on a sun-filled Sunday afternoon (23 June).

If you didn’t have a chance to attend, there is still time for you to make a difference with a donation and help us cross the “finish line” to the €15,000 goal. Details can be found here.

Where are they now? “Currently, I am studying in the Netherlands in the lovely student city of Groningen. I went for computer science after finishing high school at the Lycée International des Pontonniers. After one year, I changed my degree in order to study a Bachelors of Arts, Culture and Media. Since then, I have been very active in my student life and in multiple associations. I am organizing a multitude of events every year, ranging from educational events to full scale music festivals! I also work at the university as a student mentor and ambassador, regularly getting involved in academic decisions over courses or on the topic of students’ wellbeing. I will be graduating next year and will be directing myself towards the world of event planning and more specifically in the music industry. As part of my studies, I am very involved in the arts. I have had the chance to be brought up in an environment filled with culture and the arts have never left me since. ‘Chassez le naturel, il revient au gallop’, as we say in French.”

Pierre continued, “Having organized more than 50 art-related events this past academic year I’ve had my dose of culture, believe me! Just recently, I was a counselor in the Broadway Theatre International camp working alongside Victor, Juliana, Alicia and a few other YATS alumni. Also, I have played guitar for many years and am planning on picking it up even more during next semester. The arts are what made us who we are today, and I will never see myself ceasing to
enjoy them!” He added, “YATS has played an integral part of my life. Since 2015, I have practically grown up alongside the association. Everyone who is involved with YATS basically counts as my second family. It is crazy what 6 weeks per year can bring you, especially with such talented minds teaching you about the ins and outs of musical theater! The memories I created will always be kept dearly to me and the people I have met, even more. I have learned to grow as a person all while learning to sing, dance, act and of course while perfecting my English and allowing me to later study abroad! Before, no one in my family could have ever imagined that there was a whole world dedicated to musicals that could bring the most common fairy tales (Beauty and the Beast), or the most random satire about capitalist ideas of paying fees to get into public bathrooms (Urinetown), to the stage. I can’t pinpoint a memory to share with you here as too many great ones come to mind. I will forever thank YATS for having enlightening me on so many levels, for having built confidence in people and for having created these opportunities for others. With my dad building the set each year, and my mum helping out as well, I hope to stay involved in YATS for as long as I can, and to be able to share the great time I had with many others!”

YATS is excited to announce the creation of the following volunteer roles: Logistics Manager, Sound Manager and Lighting Manager. Job descriptions can be found here. This is a great opportunity to become more involved in YATS activities and to learn new skills in a friendly and relaxed environment. Training and
coaching can be provided.
