The Music Man opened at Le Point d’Eau on Saturday and audiences have already delivered their verdict; both Saturday and Sunday’s shows ended with the audience on their feet applauding the cast until their hands hurt! Five-star reviews are sure to follow!
Isaiah Krueger took center stage as Harold Hill, bringing bags of charm, showmanship, and jaw-dropping professionalism to one of musical theater’s great roles, while Kate Domball played Marian (the librarian) with equal amounts of panache, making their scenes together a joy to watch. It was hard to believe you were watching ‘amateur‘ ‘youth‘ theater; both are surely destined for careers on Broadway. At times, the stage hosted all 45 young actors moving with purpose and grace, making the big dance numbers a true spectacle – and the singing was pitch-perfect throughout! (No, really!) However, the loudest cheers at the end were reserved for the show’s ‘barbershop’ quartet whose enchanting harmonies were simply spell-binding. This show is about as good as American musical theater gets!
Is this YATS’ most talented cast of young Strasbourgeois.e.s yet? You be the judge! With only three performances, and a limited number of seats, remaining – you only have a few hours left to grab a ticket and find out for yourself!
