Oliver! Rehearsals Begin with an Action-Packed Weekend

What a weekend! The cast and crew of our Fall 2025 production of Oliver! kicked things off in style with two days of rehearsals—and it was non-stop from start to finish. On Saturday, the cast met each other for the very first time. There was a real buzz as everyone picked up their scripts and scores (a huge thanks to UNI Impressions for reproducing them.)

Then it was straight into the action. Choreographer Alicia got everyone moving with some brilliant dance routines, Musical Director Julianna had the cast singing a few of the show’s iconic numbers, and Director Victor led a read-through of a few key scenes—giving everyone a feel for the story and characters. Later in the day, we welcomed cast parents for a backstage info session, where plenty of eager mums and dads signed up to help out behind the scenes (thank you—we couldn’t do it without you!). Then came the big moment—the reveal of our official Oliver! poster, designed by Benoît Bernard. The reaction was electric, and it’s safe to say the cast loved it. Keep your eyes peeled—you’ll be seeing it all around town soon!

Sunday kept the energy high, with more singing, dancing, and scene work. Meanwhile, a team of volunteers quietly measured every cast member (head, waist, inside leg—you name it) to get a head start on costume fittings. It was a packed, exciting, and genuinely fun weekend. Spirits were high, and everyone left tired but smiling. Oliver! is off to a flying start—and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.

To wrap things up, here are a few words from the man behind the poster:

Jr” en 2013 à “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” en 2018.

EN: I’ve known YATS since its very beginning, and had the joy of watching my two children, Rose and Victor, perform in many productions — from “Annie! Jr” in 2013 through to “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” in 2018. It was a wonderful family adventure that introduced me to the world of musical theatre and allowed me to contribute in my own way: by designing many posters for YATS shows over the years.

A year ago, I left Strasbourg and retired from my professional life to begin a new chapter: I now live on a boat in Spain with my wife.

I was especially happy to pick up my tools again for YATS this year — and to reconnect, through Oliver!, with that unique creative and collective energy.

I imagined this new poster as a leap toward freedom: a silhouette, the moon, a city… and the dream of a child who refuses to give up. The design combines energy and emotion — true to the spirit of the show and the mission of YATS.

Creating this poster was a real joy. Huge thanks to YATS for their trust!
