Theater Design and Backstage Workshop – Ages 12-19 (Collège/Lycée)
This workshop will give students a full backstage experience from learning the basics about designing theater scenery and lighting as well as learning about the equipment used for lighting, sound, and video today. Classes will include both the principles of design as well as practical experience in operating lighting and sound boards and other theater equipment. Workshop participants will have practical experience providing technical support for the other workshops and working on the annual October musical production. Students will have the opportuning to have real production experience by working on YATS musicals including the Musical Theater Workshop production in May, the Alumni production in August, and the October Musical in the Grand Salle at Le Point d’Eau. Possible field trips should opportunities arise. Instruction is in English and French. The students needn’t be fluent in English nor be bilingual.
Teacher: Xavier Martayan, one of the leading designers in the Strasbourg theater community, who designed the lighting for YATS’s productions of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and SHREK.
Dans cet atelier vous serez initié(e)s aux diverses techniques qui permettent à un spectacle d’être réalisé: le son, la lumière, la vidéo, la régie de plateau, les interactions avec les costumes, maquillage et autres aspects de la production d’un spectacle. Les stagiaires bénéficieront d’une mise en situation expérimentale leur permettant de participer aux divers spectacles de YATS en tant que techniciens dans les productions aux divers postes techniques. Des visites illustrant les cours pourraient avoir lieu (théâtre, coulisses, rencontres avec d’autres professionnels…). Cet atelier est ouvert aux stagiaires ayant une connaissance de l’anglais mais les cours seront assurés dans les deux langues, il n’est pas nécessaire d’être totalement bilingue.
