Theater Design and Backstage Workshop – Ages 12-19 (Collège/Lycée)
This workshop gives students a full backstage experience from learning the basics about designing theater scenery and lighting to learning about the equipment used for lighting, sound, and video. Classes cover both the principles of design as well as practical experience in operating lighting and sound boards and other theater equipment.
Students get the opportunity to have real production experience by working on YATS musicals including the Workshop production in May, the Alumni production in August, and the October Musical in the Grand Salle at Le Point d’Eau.
The teacher for this workshop is Xavier Martayan, a leading designer in the Strasbourg theater community. He did the lighting design for the YATS’s recent productions of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and SHREK.
Classes are taught in English and French
